Oprah Winfrey starts every meeting with these same 3 sentences

Oprah Winfrey departures every meeting with these saatkorn 3 sentencesOprah Winfrey starts every meeting with these same 3 sentencesKicking off meetings can beawkward- there might be chit-chat among colleagues about totally irrelevant topics since theyre all finally in the same space, and there are almost always stragglers and those who forget to call in well past the five-minute grace period. Somebody will probablyforgettoread the meeting agenda, someone will sit down anxiously in a rush back out there door and someone else will likely forgettheir notepad.Even after the meeting finally commences, nine out of 10 peoplewill daydream during it and73 percentof people will work on other things during it.Thats why Oprah Winfrey kicks off every meeting with the same three questions to get everyone engaged and to set clear intentions What is our intention for this meeting?Whats important? What matters?Brendon Burchard, author ofHigh Performance Habits How Extraordinary People Become That Wa y, says Oprah starts every meeting with those questions because high performers seek clarity. Clarity isnt something high performersgetbut, rather, its something theyseek, Burchard explains. Thats why they consistently ask themselves the following four questionsSelfHow do you want to describe your ideal self?SkillsWhat skills do you want to develop and demonstrate?SocialHow do you want to behave socially?ServiceWhat service do you want to provide?Asking themselves these questions helps them to refocus. Likewise, asking questions to start off a meeting helps attendees to refocus. In the US alone, Americans attend 11 million formal business meetings each day. That means that every meeting better be important, and the meeting agenda should be clear and simply stated. Select date for the campaignlaunch, for example. There shouldnt be any recap, review or discuss, according to Burchard.Following a detailed agenda and starting on time can reduce meeting times up to80percent. Thats importan t given that the time employees spend in meetings has risen around10 percenteach year, since 2000, which means that the average meeting length is between31 to 60 minutes.Though47 percent of Americans consider too many meetings the biggest waste of time, meetingscanbe necessary to advance a project or organization - so long as theyre constructive and intentional. If not, itdoesnt only affect the individuals involved, butwewaste$37 billionevery year on time that could have been better utilized. With Oprahs three questions, your next company meeting will be sure to result in decisions being made in an efficient manner.AnnaMarie Houlis is a multimedia journalist and an adventure aficionado with a keen cultural curiosity and an affinity for solotravel. The Express Elevator Speech What is it, whats the goal, how to improve

The Express Elevator Speech What is it, whats the goal, how to improveThe Express Elevator Speech What is it, whats the goal, how to improveWeve all been therbeie You go to a networking event, social function, or seminar and the leader says, Before we get started, lets go around the room. When its your turn stand up, tell us who you are and what you do. Give us your elevator speech.Alternatively, youre at a gathering where the instructions were Arrive early and networkAn elevator speech is a personal infomercial that succinctly answers that question. For many, responding to that query, be it in front of a group or one-on-one, is a struggle. Some people merely give their name, the name of their company, and the products and services they offer. Thats pretty standard, but elend very inspiring. If they are seeking a new position, they often awkwardly give their name, years in an industry and job they would like. Again, typical fare for this question, but leid exciting.Thats misfortunate. Its a problem because the research shows speaking opportunities are business, career, and leadership opportunitiesPeople who take and make speaking opportunities grow their businesses, advance their careers, gain leadership positions, and get hired for great jobs.An elevator speech is a mini-speaking opportunity Bottom line Everyone needs a great elevator speechThe ultimate goal of an elevator speechAll elevator speeches have the same ultimate goal A conversation.A conversation with someone having a sincere interest, for themselves or someone else, in your products and services. Those wanting that conversation want details. How much does your product or service cost? What are the terms? How long has this product or service been available and what is the track record? Is there a guarantee? How is the product or service delivered?Other pertinent questions specific to their needs. On the other hand, if youre looking for a job. What specific company, companies, or industry are you looking to la nd in?What is your experience in this, or related fields? What specific skills do you possess that make you a viable candidate for this line of work? That conversation may not be with the person who heard your elevator speech. It could be with someone referred by someone who heard it. Thats one reason the Immediate Goals of an elevator speech are critical.Immediate goals of an elevator speechThe goal of all communication, verbal, written, or visual, is the same. We want the audience, as quickly as possible, to GET ITThe immediate goal of your elevator speech should be clarity and understanding.Everyone who hears it should know exactly what you do or what job you are seeking. Then, they should be able to tell others precisely what you do.Clarity is not optional. Dont be clever with words or phrases that cant be interpreted immediately. Use plain, simple language, avoiding buzzwords, acronyms, and techno-speak. You wont impress people with words they dont know. Youll lose themIf they do nt get it, theyll never be a prospect nor will they ever refer you. There are three possible outcomesNumber 1People hearing it want to talk to you right away. They want to have a conversation and get details.Number 2 They dont need what you offer, but if they ever do, they would be very comfortable having that talk with you because youve established credibility and presented yourself as an expert.Number 3They know what you do. Their radargert is now up, and if someone ever says, Hey, Im looking for this product or service or someone to do this kind of work, theyll think of, and refer, you.Dis-qualifying is importantWhen networking one-on-one, usually before a scheduled program or, perhaps, at a party, one specific goal is to dis-qualify Everyone is not a prospect for the products and/or services you offer. You are not going to purchase every product and service someone tells you about. When networking, an important goal should beDont waste major time on minor possibilitiesExampleI was attending a chamber event, where people arrived early to network. As typically happens, people were introducing themselves to others and giving their elevator speech. One attendee was lady who sold replacement windows for older homes. She had a pretty good elevator speech for presenting to a group of people. It was easy to understand what she was selling. The product has an excellent reputation, and the firm she worked for had been in business for a number of years. If I was a prospect for replacement windows, or knew someone in the market for those, Id feel comfortable having a conversation with her or making a referral. Many attendees were not prospects for her product. They made be renters, recently purchased windows, or live in a newer home where the original ones are great. Additionally, I knew the line of windows she was selling was very high end, quite expensive, and definitely not in every homeowners budget.Delivering her entire elevator speech to people who have absolutely no interest, or not likely to purchase her windows, was wasting their time and hers. Sure, they may know someone who may have an interest, but time is a precious commodity when networking before an event starts.A good one-on-one elevator speech will quickly dis-qualify someone. The Express Elevator Speech will do thatNumber OneIt starts with asking a question. Start by answering that question by asking one.Number TwoGive your WHY. Simon Sinek says, Its not what you do, but why you do it.Number ThreeAsk another question.I speak, coach, and write about networking, public speaking and presentation skills. The following is my Express Elevator Speech. Put the verbiage in your world. Thanks for asking what I do. Im going to answer your question by asking you one. Have you ever been an audience, watching and listening to a speaker and you think to yourself Boy That guy is good I mean, he is really good. Hes articulate, authentic, very entertaining. Obviously, he has a passion for what hes doing and Im getting a lot out of this presentation. Man I wish I could do that.Im the guy they hire to develop, practice and deliver presentations like that. The fact is, everyone who hires me knowsspeaking opportunities are business, career, and leadership opportunitiesYou probably dont know anyone who wants to improve their networking, public speaking and presentation skills, do you?Now that elevator speech will get their attention It has clarity and it ends with impact. In addition to being used one-on-one, the Express Elevator Speech can also be used when delivering it to groups. This is especially true when time is a consideration.Use this formula for developing, practicing, and delivering your Express Elevator Speech and I guarantee the next one will be absolutely, positively no sweatFred E. Miller is a speaker, a best selling author, and an international presentation coach. His books, NO SWEAT Public Speaking and NO SWEAT Elevator Speech are available on Amazon.com. United States Military Enlistment Standards

United States Military Enlistment StandardsUnited States Military Enlistment StandardsEnlisting in the United States military is very different than applying for any other job. Not everyone will qualify, and there are strict rules which would never apply to civilian employment.Congress and the courts have held that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which ensures all individuals are treated equally before the law with respect to civilian employment, does not apply to the military profession. The military doesnt accept just anyone who wants to join. To enlist, you must be qualifiedunder current federal laws and regulations or have an appropriate waiver. There are age, citizenship, physical, education, height/weight, criminal record, medical, and drug history standards that can exclude you from joining the military. Statistically, this past decade, a majority of recruits fail to meet the height/weight standards of the military as the number one reason why people cannot immediat ely sign up for service. Here is a look at some of the basic qualifications to enlist in the military. Minimum Age Requirement Across the armed forces, the minimum age allowed for enlistment is 17 (with parental consent) and 18 (without parental consent). The maximum age for enlistment for someone who has never served in the military before varies by branch for the Army, its 35, for the Navy, its 34, for the Air Force its 39, and for the Marines, its 28. These often can be waived if the recruit has the education, skills, experience that the military needs to fill its ranks. Often these are professional jobs (legal, medical, dental, religious). The rules for reserves and those with prior military service vary. Military Service Citizenship Requirement To enlist in any branch of the U.S. military, you must either be a U.S. citizen, or a legal permanent residentwith a green card physically living in the United States. For enlistment purposes, citizens of the United States inclu de citizens of Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Northern Marianas Islands, American Samoa, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands, as well as the 50 states. ?Credit and Finances If you have unpaid loans which are significantly overdue or have a history of bad credit, this could affect your security clearance eligibility, which in turn could make many military jobs unavailable to you. And some recruits will have to show that theyre able to meet their current financial obligations upon enlistment. Having credit/debt issues can make you susceptible to bribery from foreign agents is the main reason for making credit issues afactor in recruitment. Serving as a Single Parent For the most part, single parents cannot enlist in the active military unless they relinquish custody of their child, or receive a waiver. The Navy requires a waiver for any applicant with more than one dependent, including a spouse. Marines require a waiver for applicants with any dependent under 18, and the Air Force will conduct a financial eligibility determination for applicants with any dependents. The Army requires a waiver when an applicant has two or more dependents in addition to a spouse. Applicants Married to Active Military Members As long as there are no children in the household, spouses of active military members are eligible to enlist. But applicants should understand that there is no guarantee that spouses will be stationed in the saatkorn place. But if there are children in the household, this will disqualify most military spouses from enlisting. The active duty services rarely waive this, while the reserve forces (Reserves and National Guard), often approve waivers, as long as the applicant can show a workable family care plan. Education Requirements for Military Service To enlist, you must be a high school graduate, have earned a GED (with additional college credits) or have met other high school equivalenc y requirements. Officers will need a four-year bachelors degree, with a strong academic record. Drug or Alcohol Use Dependency on illegal drugs is disqualifying, anyhistory of drug use is potentially disqualifying, and any history of dependency on alcohol is disqualifying. There are cases where waivers may be granted, but manysensitive military jobs will be closed to anyone who has any past association with illegal drug or alcohol use. Criminal History Although a criminal record is not an automatically disqualifying, there are some situations where the armed services will not grant waivers. If a person has a felony conviction as an adult, or a juvenile felony conviction that involved violence, chances of a waiver to enlist are slim. Likewise, for offenses involving the sale of illegal drugs, and most sex offenses are disqualifying. Anyone convicted of a domestic violence misdemeanor is barred from carrying a firearm, which would disqualify the person from serving in the mili tary. Height and Weight Standards For most of the military, male applicants need to be between 60 inches and 80 inches tall. For female applicants, the range is between 58 inches and 80 inches. The Marines have separate standards Male applicants should be between 58 and 78 inches tall, and female applicants between 58 and 72 inches tall. The services have body fat standards, which are only partly based on weight. During an initial screening, applicants are measured on a body fat chart. Those who weigh more than the limits on the chart are measured to ensure they ding within the services body-fat standards. Often physically fit and muscular/low body fat recruits can be over the height/weight standards but meet the body fat requirements. Medical Conditions There are some medical conditions which will disqualify applicants from enlisting in the military. In general, you wont be eligible to enlist if you have a medical condition that falls into one of these categories. Applicant s must be free of contagious diseases that would likely endanger the health of other personnel.Applicants must be free of medical conditions or physical defects that would require excessive time lost from duty for necessary treatment or hospitalization.Applicants must be medically capable of satisfactorily completing required training, and medically adaptable to the military environment without geographical area limitations.Applicants need to be medically capable of performing duties without the aggravation of existing physical defects or medical conditions. If you have a specific medical condition and are not sure whether it disqualifies you from enlisting, or have questions about any of the other requirements to join the armed services, seek guidance from your recruiting officer. A military medical professional will answer your questions at MEPS. Service in the military is a competitive job environment. The U.S. military is not a profession of last resorts for those with no other option.

If youre too busy for these 5 things your life is off-course

If youre too busy for behauptung 5 things yur life is off-curseIf youre too busy for behauptung 5 things your life is off-courseDespite turbulence and other conditions keeping airplanes off-course 90 percent of flight time, most flights arrive in the correct destination at the intended time. The reason for this phenomenon is quite simple - through air traffic control and the inertial guidance system, pilots are constantly course correcting. When immediately addressed, these course corrections are not hard to manage. When these course corrections dont regularly happen, catastrophe can result. For example, in 1979, a passenger jet with 257 people on board left New Zealand for a sightseeing flight to Antarctica and back. However, the pilots were unaware that someone had altered the flight coordinates by a measly two degrees, putting them 28 miles east of where they assumed to be.Follow Ladders on FlipboardFollow Ladders magazines on Flipboard covering Happiness, Productivity, Job Satisfa ction, Neuroscience, and moraApproaching Antarctica, the pilots descended to give the passengers a view of the brilliant landscapes. Sadly, the incorrect coordinates had placed them directly in the path of the active volcano, Mount Erebus. The snow on the volcano blended with the clouds above, deceiving the pilots into thinking they were flying above flat ground. When the instruments sounded a warning of the quickly rising ground, it welches too late. The plane crashed into the volcano killing everyone on board. An error of only a few degrees brought about an enormous tragedy.Small things - if not corrected - become big things, always. This flight is an analogy of our lives. Even seemingly inconsequential aspects of our lives can create ripples and waves of consequence - for better or worse. How are you piloting your life? What feedback are you receiving to correct your course? How often do you check your guidance system? Do you even have a guidance system?Where is your destination?Whe n are you going to get there? Are you currently off-course? How long have you been off-course?How would you know if you are on the right course? How can you minimize the turbulence and other conditions distracting your path?1. Organizing your lifeI dont think Im alone in being slightly scattered and sloppy about certain areas of my life.Life is busy. Its hard to keep everything organized and tidy. And maybe you dont want to have an organized life. But moving forward will require far less energy if you remove the excessive baggage and tension. Everything in your life is energy. If youre carrying too much - physical or emotional - your progression will be hampered. In his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen Covey explains that some things are important, and some things are urgent. Most people spend their life prioritizing urgent and shallow activity (e.g., answering emails, putting out proverbial fires, and just day-to-day stuff).Very few people have organized their l ives to prioritize almost exclusively important and deep activity (e.g., learning, health, relationships, travel, and goals). No one cares about your success more than you do. If youre not a meticulous accountant about the important details of your life, then you arent responsible enough to have what you say you want.So how do you organize your life?Environmental EnergyIs your living space cluttered and messy or simple and neat?Do you keep stuff (like clothes) you no longer use?If you have a car, is it clean or just another place to keep your clutter and garbage?Does your environment facilitate the emotions you consistently want to experience?Does your environment drain or improve your energy?Financial EnergyDo you have unnecessary debt?Do you know how many dollars you spend each month?Do you know how many dollars you make each month? Are you making as much money as youd like to be?Whats unternehmensverbund you back from creating more value in other peoples lives? Most people dont trac k their expenses. But if they did, theyd be shocked how much money they waste on stuff like eating out.Ill be honest, as a creative and right-brained person, administrative and logistical details bog me down. I procrastinate and avoid them. But this lackluster behavior is unternehmensverbund me back from the very goals Im trying to accomplish.Until I can hone in on my finances, I wont have a healthier financial life, regardless of my income. Until I take complete responsibility of my finances,Ill always be a slave to money. And so will you.Relational EnergyAre your relationships the most meaningful and enjoyable part of your life?Do you spend enough time nurturing the relationships that really matter?Do you maintain toxic relationships that no longer serve you?Are you authentic and honest in your relationships?Like money, most peoples relationships are not organized in a conscious manner. But with something so critical, we should take better stock of our relationships.Health EnergyDo you eat with the end in mind? Are you conscious of and in control of the foods you put in your body?Does the food you eat improve or worsen the other areas of your life?Does your body reflect your highest ideals? Is your body as strong and fit as you want it to be?Are you healthier now than you were three months ago?Health is wealth. If youre bed ridden, who cares how organized the other areas of your life are? Its so easy to put our health on the side, such as foregoing sleep, over consuming stimulants, and making poor eating habits.Little things become big things. And eventually everything catches up.Spiritual EnergyDo you have a sense of purpose in life?Have you come to terms with life and death in a way you resonate with? How much power do you have in designing your future?Death, it turns out, is not your greatest fear. Actually, your greatest fear is reaching death and having never truly lived. When you organize your spiritual life, you become clear on what your life is about. You become clear on what you stand for, and how you want to spend each day. You develop conviction for what really matters to you, and what is a distraction. No matter how well defined, everyone has a moral system governing their behavior. Most people believe in being honest and good people. But until you organize your spiritual life, youll experience internal conflict when acting contrary to your values and vision.TimeHow much of your time do you feel in complete control of?Is your time being wasted on things you dont intrinsically enjoy? Are the activities you spend your time doing moving you toward your ideal future? Are you spending most of your time furthering your own agenda or someone elses? What activities should you remove from your life? How much time do you waste each day? What would your ideal day look like? What activities could you outsource or automate that take up your time?Until you organize your time, it will disappear and move quickly. Before you know it, youll wonder where all the time went.Once you organize your time, it will slow down. Youll be able to live more presently. Youll be able to experience time as you want to. Youll control your time rather than the other way around.Stop What Youre Doing and Get OrganizedGetting organized and conscious of your present circumstances (e.g., your environment, finances, relationships, purpose, and time) puts you in a position to build toward the future you want. The fastest way to move forward in life is not doing more. It starts with stopping the behaviors holding you back.If you want to get in shape, youll make more progress by stopping your negative behaviors than starting good ones. So, before you start exercising, purge the junk food from your diet. Until you stop the damage, youll always be taking one step forward and one step backward. Before you focus on making more money, reduce your spending. Detach yourself from needing more and become content with what you have. Until you do this, it doesnt matter how much money you make. Youll always spend what you have (or more). This is a matter of stewardship. Rather than wanting more, more, more , its key to take proper care of what you currently have. Organize yourself. Dial it in. Your life is a garden. What good is planting if you dont prepare the soil and remove the weeds? Why do most people stay stuck? They never organize. They try adding more, or being more productive, or taking a different approach. So before you hustle, get organized.2. Plan and invest in your futureThe best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now. - Chinese ProverbTaking these foundational areas of life and organizing them is essential to creating your ideal future.Very few people consciously plan and design their life. Its actually startling how few Americans are investing in their future. Most Millennials are terrified of the stock market and long-term investing. Most Baby Boomers never developed the discipline to invest, but instead maintained an addiction to American consumption.Even still, you have complete power over the details of your life the moment you decide youre worthy of that power. That decision is manifest in tangible behaviors, like fixing or removing troubled relationships and saying no to activities that are nothing more than a waste of your time. You get to decide right now.If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail - Benjamin FranklinYour vision should be based on your why, not so much your what.Your why is your reason, your what is how that is manifest. And your what can happen in a hr of different ways. For example, my why is to help people get clarity on the life they want to live, and to help them achieve their goals as quickly as possible. My what could be blogging, parenting, being a student, going out to dinner, and several other things.Too many people think creating a vision is about nailing down exactly what they want in the next 20 years. The problem with this mega long-term appro ach to goal setting is that it actually slows your potential.Instead of having a pre-set plan of what he wants to do, Tim Ferriss executes on 36 month experiments that hes currently excited about. He told Darren Hardy in an interview that he has no clue what the outcome of his experiments might be. So theres no point in making long-term plans. He has no clue what doors will open up, and he wants to be open to the best possibilities. But his why doesnt change. When you are proactively creating and collaborating with many different people, the whole becomes different and better than the sum of its parts. This is why you cant plan for everything. Because at the highest level, youve transcended your need to have things exactly how you want them. You know that with the help of other people, you can do things 10X, 100X, or 1,000X bigger and better than you could ever conceive on your own.Rather than expecting a particular outcome, you are completely confident that the best outcome will ensu e. This is how you create and contribute beyond anything you could ever comprehend. Collaboration and synergy lead to new innovations and ultimately, menschenfreundlich evolution. Its how the old and outdated rules are redefined and replaced with new and better ones, thus changing the weltumspannend environment.Invest in Your FutureWhen you choose to forego momentary gratification in order to have an enhanced future, you are investing in your future. Most people fail to do this successfully. Most people dont purposefully invest in their finances, relationships, health, and time. But when you invest in yourself (and your future),you ensure your future present moments will continue to get richer and more enjoyable. Thus, your life will continue getting better and more in line with your ideal vision.3. Tracking important metricsWhen wertzuwachs is measured, performance improves. When performance is measured and reported, the rate of improvement accelerates. - Thomas MonsonGetting organ ized and investing in your future are futile if youre not tracking. In regards to the most important areas of your life, you need to be on top of whats going on.Tracking is difficult. If youve tried it before, chances are, you quit within a few days.Research has repeatedly found that when behavior is tracked and evaluated, it improves drastically. If youre not tracking the key areas of your life, than youre probably more off-course than you think. If you were to be honest with yourself, youd be stunned how out-of-control things have become. As J.M. Barrie, author of Peter Pan, has saidThe life of every man is a diary in which he means to write one story, and writes another and his humblest hour is when he compares the volume as it is with what he vowed to make it.The cool part is, once you get organized, make a plan, and start tracking, desired change happens quickly.Track the things that are closely related to your core priorities. As Jim Collins said in Good to Great, If you have m ore than three priorities you have none.Your priorities reflect your why, and thus, your life should be build around your priorities. bedrngnis the other way around. Consequently, if youre serious about improving upon the foundation of your life, track your priorities. For exampleYour key relationshipsYour business and financesSelf improvement (such as health or how you use your time)You can track whatever priorities you have. But I can absolutely promise you that once you do, your conscious awareness of these things will increase.Youre ability to control these things will enhance. Your confidence will wax strong. And your life will become simpler.Youll be living a simple, yet organized and refined life. Youll be responsible, which put another way is freedom.4. Prayer and meditation to reduce noiseI have so much to do today that Im going to need to spend three hours in prayer in order to be able to get it all done. - Martin LutherTheres a lot of emphasis on hustle these days.Hustle , hustle, hustle. But all the hustle in the wrong direction isnt going to help you. Yes, by hustling you can fail often, fail fast, and fail forward. However, as Thomas Merton has saidPeople may spend their whole lives climbing the ladder of success only to find, once they reach the top, that the ladder is leaning against the wrong wall. This happens way too often. We get caught in the thick of thin things. Far too late do we realize that in our mad rush, we were pursuing someone elses goals instead of our own.But spending a large chuck of time in prayer and/or meditation does more than provide clarity to what youre doing. These things open your mind up to possibilities you cant get while busy. For example, a few days ago I spent the entire morning praying, thinking deeply, listening to inspirational music, and writing in my journal. A few hours into this process, an idea came to me that is absolute gold.I also got insights regarding important relationships during that time, which when those insights came in, I immediately sent out emails or texts to those people. Amazing collaborations and mentorships were the resultant outcome. But theres more.Your thoughts are incredibly powerful. They actually govern not only you but those around you. Think about it, if you think positively about the people youre around, their lives are better. This is why people send positive energy or pray for other people. It actually makes a difference.Your thoughts create endless ripples - even waves - of consequence all around you. While praying and/or meditating for a large portion of time, the level of your thoughts will elevate. And interesting things will begin happening. If youre uncomfortable with the idea of miracles, you can think of it as luck.Whatever you call it, when you spend large portions of time every day in deep reflection mode, luck strikes. Stuff happens that is completely outside of your control for your benefit. For instance, during my deep dive into my mind and soul , one of my favorite authors came across my blog. He re-tweeted one of my articles and reached out to me. Now were friends. Weve spent lots of time together. Hes helped me get a book contract. Hes even had me speak at one of his eventsIf youre skeptical of these ideas. Give it a try. Why do you think the majority of the worlds most successful have rituals such as these? There is a higher realm you can tap into that unlocks limitless possibilities. The only thing holding you back from those things is your mind.5. Move toward your goals every single dayHow many days go by where you did nothing to move toward your big goals?Probably too many.Life is busy.If you dont purposefully carve time out every day to progress and improve, then without question, your time will get s-lost in the vacuum of our increasingly crowded lives. Before you know it, youll be old and withered, wondering where all that time went.As Harold Hill has said You pile up enough tomorrows, and youll find you are left w ith nothing but a lot of empty yesterdays. After youve gotten yourself organized, made plans, started tracking, and gotten into the habit of prayer/meditation, taking action and hustling will be automatic. Youll be focused on the right thing and in the right frame of mind to actually execute. Its good practice to do these kind of things at the beginning of your day before your will power depletes. If you dont, it simply will not get done. By the end of your day, youll be exhausted. Youll be fried. There will be a million reasons to just start tomorrow. And you will start tomorrow - which is never. So your mantra becomes The worst comes first. Do that thing youve been needing to do. Then do it again tomorrow. If you take just one step toward your big goals every day, youll realize those goals werent really far away.ConclusionIts really easy to get off course in life. Like airplanes, we constantly need to make course corrections. But we can ensure we get where we want in life by organizing ourselves, planning for our future, tracking our progress, heightening our mindset, and hustling.Do this long enough and youll be shocked.GoThis article was originally published on Medium. You might also enjoyNew neuroscience reveals 4 rituals that will make you happyStrangers know your social class in the first seven words you say, study finds10 lessons from Benjamin Franklins daily schedule that will double your productivityThe worst mistakes you can make in an interview, according to 12 CEOs10 habits of mentally strong peopleIf youre too busy for these 5 things your life is off-courseDespite turbulence and other conditions keeping airplanes off-course 90 percent of flight time, most flights arrive in the correct destination at the intended time. The reason for this phenomenon is quite simple - through air traffic control and the inertial guidance system, pilots are constantly course correcting. If youre carrying too much - physical or emotional - your progress will be hampered. In his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen Covey explains that some things are important, and some things are urgent. Most people spend their life prioritizing urgent and shallow activity (e.g., answering emails, putting out proverbial fires, and just day-to-day stuff).Very few people have organized their lives to prioritize almost exclusively important and deep activity (e.g., learning, health, relationships, travel, and goals). No one cares about your success more than you do. If youre not a meticulous accountant about the important details of your life, then you arent responsible enough to have what you say you want.So how do you organize your life?Environmental EnergyIs your living space cluttered and messy or simple and neat?Do you keep stuff (l ike clothes) you no longer use?If you have a car, is it clean or just another place to keep your clutter and garbage?Does your environment facilitate the emotions you consistently want to experience?Does your environment drain or improve your energy?Financial EnergyDo you have unnecessary debt?Do you know how many dollars you spend each month?Do you know how many dollars you make each month? Are you making as much money as youd like to be?Whats holding you back from creating more value in other peoples lives? Most people dont track their expenses. But if they did, theyd be shocked how much money they waste on stuff like eating out.Ill be honest, as a creative and right-brained person, administrative and logistical details bog me down. I procrastinate and avoid them. But this lackluster behavior is holding me back from the very goals Im trying to accomplish.Until I can hone in on my finances, I wont have a healthier financial life, regardless of my income. Until I take complete respons ibility of my finances,Ill always be a slave to money. But until you organize your spiritual life, youll experience internal conflict when acting contrary to your values and vision.TimeHow much of your time do you feel in complete control of ?Is your time being wasted on things you dont intrinsically enjoy? And your what can happen in a ton of different ways. For example, my why is to help people get clarity on the life they want to live, and to help them achieve their goals as quickly as possible. My what could be blogging, parenting, being a student, going out to dinner, and several other things.Too many people think creating a vision is about nailing down exactly what they want in the next 20 years. The problem with this mega long-term approach to goal setting is that it actually slows your potential.Instead of having a pre-set plan of what he wants to do, Tim Ferriss executes on 36 month experiments that hes currently excited about. You know that with the help of other people, you can do things 10X, 100X, or 1,000X bigger and better than you could ever conceive on your own.Rather than expecting a particular outcome, you are completely confident that the best outcome will ensue. This is how you create and contribute beyond anything you could ever comprehend. Collaboration and synergy lead to new innovations and ultimately, human evolution. Its how the old and outdated rules are redefined and replaced with new and better ones, thus changing the global environment.Invest in Your FutureWhen you choose to forego momentary gratification in order to have an enhanced future, you are investing in your future. Most people fail to do this successfully .Most people dont purposefully invest in their finances, relationships, health, and time. But when you invest in yourself (and your future),you ensure your future present moments will continue to get richer and more enjoyable. Thus, your life will continue getting better and more in line with your ideal vision.3. Tracking important metricsWhen performance is measured, performance improves. When performance is measured and reported, the rate of improvement accelerates. - Thomas MonsonGetting organized and investing in your future are futile if youre not tracking. As Jim Collins said in Good to Great, If you have more than three priorities you have none.Your priorities reflect your why, and thus, your life should be build around your priorities. Not the other way around. Consequently, if youre serious about improving upon the foundation of your life, track your priorities. For exampleYour key relationshipsYour business and financesSelf improvement (such as health or how you use your time)You can track whatever priorities you have. But I can absolutely promise you that once you do, your conscious awar eness of these things will increase.Youre ability to control these things will enhance. - Martin LutherTheres a lot of emphasis on hustle these days.Hustle, hustle, hustle. Far too late do we realize that in our mad rush, we were pursuing someone elses goals instea d of our own.But spending a large chuck of time in prayer and/or meditation does more than provide clarity to what youre doing. For instance, during my deep dive into my mind and soul, one of my favorite authors came across my blog. Move toward your goals every single dayHow many days go by where you did nothing to move toward your big goals?Probably too many.Life is busy.If you dont purposefully carve time out every day to progress and improve, then without question, your time will get lost in the vacuum of our increasingly crowded lives. Before you know it, youll be old and withered, wondering where all that time went.As Harold Hill has said You pile up enough tomorrows, and youll find you are left with nothing but a lot of empty yesterdays. The re will be a million reasons to just start tomorrow. But we can ensure we get where we want in life by organizing ourselves, planning for our future, tracking our progress, heightening our mindset, and hustling.Do this long enough and youll be shocked.GoThis article was originally published on Medium.com.

The phrases need not be complete sentences as the applicant is the implied subject, and short, direct phrasing are desirable.Next, the core qualifications section singles out the top professional characteristics of this applicant and organizes them into six brief, powerful bullet points. Each point begins with a vivid adjective, although you may choose action verbs to begin your bullet points instead. This section may seem short compared to the others however, it is standard to limit the info here to the year of graduation, the degree earned, the major area of study, the name of the educational institution, its city, and its state. 5 Things You Need To Know To Make The Interview Process Faster

5 Things You Need To Know To Make The Interview Process FasterThe bewerbungsinterview process requires a delicate balance. While its important to be thorough when vetting candidates, having a process that drags on can cause you to lose your top choice. As a recruiter or hiring manager, its important to walk the thin line between quick and effective without letting the quality of your hires decrease.Knowing which parts of the hiring process to change or cut entirely is never easy. But, for the sake of efficiency, you need to make changes that will speed things up. Here are some tips from hiring experts to help you hire quickly without sacrificing quality of hire1. Know that great candidates wont waitWe just found out the hard way how important it is to speed up the hiring process. We were hiring a writer and it took 60 days from application to offer for our chosen candidate. She took another location just a few days before we made the offer. Luckily, we got the next round down to 18 days and found a great candidate. The experience showed us that speeding up the hiring process is beneficial in a number of ways you cut down the chance a candidate picks a different company, you can get the person on staff sooner, and it gives you the flexibility to offer some time off before the candidate starts. If youre trying to speed up the hiring process, my advice would be to attack the downtime between stages of the funnel. Dont touch the time youve allotted to review, discuss, and interview. If you do that, you might be hurting your chance at finding the right candidate. Henry OLoughlin, Director of Marketing, NectafyGreat candidates wont wait around. Hire them quickly talentacquisition henryoloughlinClick To Tweet2. Consider what the length of the process tells candidatesMany of my clients let too much time pass and they lose the opportunity to interview and hire someone who could potentially be a good fit. The hiring process is also a time when the interviewee is evaluat ing the company and how they make decisions. For example, if a company takes three weeks to go from scheduling a phone screen to a face-to-face interview, that can tell you about the speed of general decision-making at the organization. In addition, peoples interests ebb and flow based upon frequency of contact and time in between meetings. The longer you wait to schedule, the mora their interest will decrease. No one likes to feel like they were the second choice. You want to continue to cultivate that love affair with your candidate until the deal is sealed.Laurie Prochnow, President, Management Recruiters of WausauConstant communication with candidates keeps their interest levels up. MRI_WausauClick To Tweet3. Have a game planNot having an interview game plan is an area that can greatly slow down the hiring process and cause an organization to risk losing a great candidate. Knowing who will be involved in interviewing, the interview methods that will be used video interviewing i s a great tool to create a more meaningful interview experience without actually meeting face-to-face and what the interviewers will cover in the interview are key. However, not all interviewers do a thorough job with initial screening of candidates. Its important up front for hiring managers and recruiters to have a strong understanding of the role and its requirements to be sure to screen for the right fit. Alina Shaffer, Practice Director, livingHRVideo interviews make your hiring process quicker and better. talentacquisition livingHRIncClick To Tweet4. Cut down on time between interviews, but not reference checksThe interviews are where things slow down employers are taking too long to schedule interviews and dragging their feet in between the interviews. In some cases, theyre doing too many interviews. We dont have an issue with employers being certain about who they are hiring, but it would be good if employers would be more creative in how they interview candidates. Rather t han having numerous interviews (sometimes days apart), companies should commit to ensuring all the appropriate decision-makers are available on one day and do all of the needed interviews in the same day. Then quickly do the debriefs to make a hiring decision.Where employers cant cut corners, however, is during background and reference checks. Make a contingent offer, get the appropriate waiver to do the background checks, and then do the reference, background, and social media checks. Dont skip this step. Use someone who does not have an emotional connection to the outcome of the hire for the best results.Sharon DeLay, Owner and President, BoldlyGO HRAlways check candidates references. Itll help you find the best. Recruiting sharondelayClick To Tweet5. Make decisions more efficientlyIn the interview process, it often takes too long to make final decisions. Saying a candidate is a maybe gets you nowhere. Create a system of how you decide check off boxes for the most necessary skills , use a numerical rating system, or even go with your gut. Whatever it is, remember that thinking about a decision more doesnt mean youll make the better choice in the end. There will always be things you never anticipated about the person good and bad. Sandy Charet, President, Charet AssociatesMaybes mean nothing in talentacquisition. Be more decisive when hiring. sandycharetClick To TweetWhat are some other ways to speed up the interview process without sacrificing quality of hire? Share in the comments below

Military Enlisted Paygrades for Ranks E1 - E9

Military Enlisted Paygrades for Ranks E1 - E9Military Enlisted Paygrades for Ranks E1 - E9When considering enlisting into the military, it is not unlike other professions where you will start at the bottom and through education, skills acquired, and hard work, you will advance through the ranks. The term rank and paygrade are used interchangeably within the military. The following information describes the differences and relations of both terms There are nineenlisted paygrades in the military, starting with E-1 and progressing up through E-9. The career path of a typical enlisted member will take 18-20 years to achieve the highest rank of the enlisted pay grades. However, in the Armed Forces, rank isgenerally determined by pay grade. The following charts cover the pay grade and ranks, starting with the low-level (or Entry Level) pay grades.Service members in the first three pay grades are usually either in some kind of training status (basic training) or on their initial assignment a fter receiving job training. Enlisted Pay Grades E-1 / E-2 / E-3 Air Force,Army,Marine Corps,Navy andCoast Guard *E-1 Air Force - Airman Basic No insignia Army - Private No Insignia USMC - Private No insignia USN / USCG - Seaman Recruit(SR) No Insignia E-2 Air Force - Airman (AMN) Army - Private E2 (PV2) USMC - Private First Class?(PFC) USN / USCG - Seaman Apprentice?(SA) E-3 Air Force - Airman First Class?(A1C) Army - Private First Class?(PFC) USMC - Lance Corporal (LCpl) USN / USCG - Seaman?(SN) E-4 Through E-6 In the mid-level enlisted ranks (E-4 through E-6) , there is a significant increase in leadership responsibility. At this point, there is formal recognition given of that increase in responsibility with the use of the terms non-commissioned officer (NCO) and Petty Officer. For rank and precedence within the Army, specialist ranks immediately below corporal. Among the services, however, rank and precedence are determined by pay grade.
